Superintendent Search

April 22, 2015 – The Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees is expected to name a lone finalist for Superintendent at a noon meeting Wednesday. The meeting will be followed by a news conference where the finalist will be introduced.

“This decision to select the next Superintendent for our district may be the most important one we will make for years to come,” Board President John Ben Blanchard said. “With that in mind, we have tried to be thoughtful and take our time throughout this process.”

The next Superintendent will succeed Rod Schroder who announced his retirement after 43 years with AISD, 15 of those years as the leader of the district. In early March, the board began the process of looking for a new superintendent by conducting conversations with teacher representatives and key district leaders, and by seeking input from the community with an online survey. Internal applicants were interviewed before the board decided on a lone finalist.

The news conference will be live tweeted using #AISDSuperSearch. Stay informed of this and other big district news by following @AmarilloISD on Twitter.
