January 22 Snow Day will be Made Up on May 22
Announcement

January 23, 2015 – Amarillo ISD administrators made the decision to take a snow day on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in response to the 12 inches of snow which fell throughout the city Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. With safety as an utmost concern, district leaders decided schools could not be ready for students and staff by 8 a.m. Thursday. Maintenance crews needed additional time to clear school sidewalks and make parking lots passable for drivers.

As a precaution, every school year two snow days are set aside in the official school district calendar to be taken in the event school is cancelled. In response to cancelling school on January 22, the snow day reserved on May 22 will be used. Students and faculty will have school on May 22.
