Superintendent Schroder Announces His Retirement

Superintendent Schroder Announces His Retirement
Rod Schroder

Dear AISD Staff Members,

It has been my privilege to lead a group of employees who are dedicated to serving the students in the Amarillo ISD. Because of my respect for each and every one of you, I want to thank you for your service to this district and your work during my tenure as Superintendent. I also want to let you know that I have indicated to our Board my intention to retire at the end of August.

To our teachers:

First and foremost, I have always considered myself a teacher. I hold the highest regard for what you do and what you can accomplish with our students. The educator’s work is significant. Students look up to us, and our responsibility to help them develop academically and socially is a very high calling. I am so thankful that 43 years ago I responded to God’s “nudge” to be a teacher.

To our other staff:

Each one of you has a critical role to play in establishing a quality learning environment for our students and teachers. As Superintendent, I have always considered myself your co-worker and believed my role to be no more or less important than yours.  Every employee is important, and without your contribution in your area of expertise, the system would not be as good as it can be. Thank you for your efforts to provide quality work and improve AISD.

I have the utmost confidence that the AISD culture will continue and become even stronger over the next few years. I wish each of you the best.

Rod Schroder
AISD Superintendent
