Certification Renewal

Certification Renewal

As educators, we know learning is a lifelong process. Standard teaching certificates in Texas must be renewed every five years, requiring Continuing Professional Education (C.P.E.). Classroom teachers must complete 150 C.P.E. hours. See the Texas Education Agency's requirements for the 150 hours.

As an educator in Amarillo Independent School Districts (A.I.S.D.), you will receive multiple opportunities to earn C.P.E. hours through on-site staff development. Region 16 also offers a wide variety of training opportunities that count toward C.P.E. hours.

Alternatively, educators may obtain C.P.E. hours independently online or in person through approved providers. Find a list of providers offering free online C.P.E. here (Opens in new window), or download a list of approved C.P.E. providers (Opens in new window).

For complete C.P.E. requirements, printable C.P.E. hour tracking sheets, FAQ and a step-by-step guide to filing your online renewal application, please visit the Texas Education Agency’s Certification Renewal page (Opens in new window).
