Transfers within AISD

All Amarillo ISD students are guaranteed admission to the schools in the attendance area in which they live. Students may, however, apply for a transfer from one school to another within AISD.  This is called an intradistrict transfer.

Transfer requests are normally accepted on a space available basis. After taking into account enrollment projections and the capacity of a campus (physical space and staffing), intradistrict transfer requests are considered according to a list of priorities such as whether the student is transferring for a program not offered at his or her school or whether the student has completed the previous school year on transfer.

Transportation for students who are granted a transfer is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Annual Application
Transfers are good for one school year only; a student on transfer to a particular school must reapply for a transfer each year.  You may click on the link below to download and print a transfer application form or pick one up at any AISD campus.

Transfer request forms are due to the principal of the desired school by May 1 for the next school year.  Transfer applications submitted after May 1 will be considered after the original group of applications.

Please Note
A student in kindergarten through grade 4 enrolled on a transfer may be returned to his or her home campus any time before Labor Day if the current class size ratio goes over the state mandated 22:1 (22 students per teacher).

For more information about intradistrict transfers, refer to Board Policy FDB (LOCAL) (page opens in new window), or contact your campus principal.
