LEGISLATION

In 1990, members of the U.S. Congress passed a legislative action known as the Americans with Disabilites Act or ADA. This law provided for equal opportunity for all persons in the areas of employment, public services and accommodations, and telecommunications.

Senate Bill 1 was passed by the members of 74th Texas Legislature. This legislation detailed the Texas Education Code. The provisions ensured equal educational services or opportunities to any individual eligible to participate in a state supported special education program.
