OUR PHILOSOPHY
It is our belief that deaf children can learn and achieve fully in a
"hearing world." The Regional Day School Program for the Deaf
is committed to the success of its hearing impaired students. We offer a
quality education which integrates the specialized skills required to thrive
socially and academically.
BRINGING OUR PHILOSOPHY TO LIFE
Above and beyond our rigorous academic program, we strive to meet the perceptual
and linguistic needs of each child. Our goal is to establish a multi-faceted
approach to learning language. Cognitive, sensory and motor activities are
integrated into daily activities. Natural language acquisition is emphasized
to encourage our students to watch, listen and speak. Visual clues are represented
in full English syntax and then incorporated into a sign system.
The Regional Day School for the Deaf is also concerned with the emotional
and self-defining aspects of our children. Students are encouraged to think
independently and interact appropriately with others.
