"CAN MY CHILD ATTEND GENERAL EDUCATION CLASSES?"
The acquisition of language is the most critical prerequisite for total
inclusion into general education. Strong reading and language skills are
needed to be fully mainstreamed.
Many hearing impaired students attend regular classes and use the services
of an interpreter. Those who are strong lip readers and have intelligible
speech, often function very well in general education classes with some
support from an itinerant teacher of the deaf.
