Students must join cosmetology as a junior. The class uses three periods each semester and counts for three electives a year including a PE credit. You may pick up an application in room 302. USA Vica Becoming a member of the cosmetology class automatically makes you part of the USA Vica program, Chapter 1484. Members of the chapter must attend meetings once a month . |

If you want to become a licensed cosmetologist by the time you graduate high school, Amarillo High cosmetology classes and U.S. Vica can make that happen. The cosmetology class requires three periods a day for four semesters. Students study facials, hairdressing, scalp and hair treatments, hair coloring, chemical hair services, and manicuring. At the end of their second year students travel to the State Board of Cosmetology in Austin to take the Texas Cosmetology Commission test, http://www.txcc.statetx.us/. Students who pass the test will receive their cosmetology license. Amarillo High Students can take Cosmetology through Amarillo High but Classes are offered only on Palo Duro's Campus. The student will just travel to Palo Duro for part of the day.
