2012 High Plains Marching Festival Entry Form
The Amarillo Independent School District proudly supports an outstanding band program that strives for excellence in every performance and serves our community as musical ambassadors throughout the nation. Our middle schools offer band in homogenous classes beginning in the sixth grade. Students are placed in an advanced band as seventh and eighth graders where they continue to develop fundamentals presented in the sixth grade. Students at this level will also participate in concerts, U.I.L. contests and the Greater Southwest Music Festival. The high school bands offer multiple opportunities for students to continue to develop into outstanding musicians. Literally thousands of people will see and hear the Amarillo, Caprock, Palo Duro and Tascosa High School bands in marching performances during the football season, at parades and at their UIL competitions. High school musicians will also participate in the TMEA All-State audition process, along with the UIL solo and ensemble contests. One of the highlights of the year for our high school students is a spring trip. Trips to such varied destinations as Hawaii, New York City, Orlando and Washington, D.C have afforded our students the opportunity to see our country and more importantly to be seen and heard by an audience that in many cases would not be aware of the quality of musical instruction in Amarillo, Texas.
