Local Operating GuidelinesCommunity Job Exploration Training (CJET)An ARD committee shall determine placement for a student in Community Job Exploration Training (CJET). The ARD committee, when considering a student for CJET, should consider the severity of the disability and the ability of the student to benefit from education with or without a job coach. If an ARD committee would not recommend VAC placement for the student due to severe cognitive disabilities, than the student might benefit from CJET. Preference will be given to those students with the most severe cognitive disabilities. The student must be at least 16 years old to participate in CJET. The CJET coordinator must be present at each ARD meeting when a student is being considered for placement into CJET.
A separate bus transportation form must be filled out and signed for all students in CJET. (This is the same form used for picking-up and taking home from school.) Parents will also be required to sign an agreement which states that they understand CJET is for job training and may or may not result in a paid position for their student. The CJET coordinator will give parents this form to sign.
The CJET coordinator shall work closely with all teachers who work with CJET students. Together, they will coordinate IEP goals, and provide communication regularly regarding CJET students' work performance and time spent on the job. They will also turn in 6-week grade averages based on these daily records to all teachers involved. This will help classroom teachers account for the time students were out on the job, away from their classrooms. |
