To protect student confidentiality and maintain the educational integrity of the special education classroom, meaning an educational environment is as free as possible from outside distractions and interruptions, the following guidelines should be followed:

• staff or parents from other schools or other school districts may not visit special education classrooms in Amarillo ISD unless the prospective visitors have prior approval from the campus principal

• the principal of the school where the visitors are wanting to observe is ultimately the person who decides if the visit is approved.  The principal will designate the date, time, and length of the observation

• preference should be given to a time when students are not in the classroom.
