Amarillo ISD Celebrates School Board Recognition Month

January 11, 2021 – Amarillo ISD is joining more than 1,000 school districts across Texas to celebrate School Board Recognition Month in January.

“Our School Board members are incredibly dedicated volunteers,” said Superintendent Doug Loomis. Their hearts and minds are always focused on the success of Amarillo ISD students. During these uncertain times, more than ever before, we count on our trustees’ visionary leadership to help us navigate to success.”

Serving as a link between the community and its schools, the Amarillo ISD School Board is responsible for 30,000 students, 5,000 staff members, 55 campuses, and an annual budget of more than $300 million. They are instrumental in setting the direction for the District and helping to create conditions for student success.

Board members serving Amarillo ISD are:

  • Robin Malone (Board president) – Attorney and Director of Legal Studies at Amarillo College
  • David Nance (Board vice president) – Owner and President of Denman Building Products
  • Kimberly Anderson – Community Volunteer and former teacher
  • Doyle Corder – Minister at Southwest Church of Christ
  • Alonzo Everhart – Senior Director of Weapons Operations at CNS Pantex Plant
  • Dick Ford – Real Estate Developer
  • Kayla Mendez – Process Engineer at CNS Pantex Plant

“Our School Board is diverse in age, ethnicity, background and profession, but they have one thing in common – a sincere dedication to our mission of making sure all students graduate from high school prepared for life and success. Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one small way to say thank you for the countless hours they give to our school district,” Loomis added.
