Amarillo ISD will host a tech summit for teachers to experience the latest technology used to inspire and challenge students. On Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19, educators from across the Panhandle will attend the EdTechTeam Texas Panhandle Summit at Caprock High School.  
Amarillo ISD's Rod Schroder Education Support Center will assume special hours of operation during the summer months. Regular hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will resume the week of July 15.

A junior at Caprock High School was chosen to represent the 13th Congressional District of Texas in the national 2019 Congressional Art Competition. The winning artwork from Briana Hernandez will hang in the US Capitol building for an entire year.

The School Board said farewell to three trustees and welcomed three new trustees at the May 21 Board meeting. Out-going trustee Jim Austin was honored for 17 years of service on the Board, F. Scott Flow was honored for four years of service, and John Betancourt also was honored for four years of service.

Students at Fannin Middle School will experience a beautiful new library before the school year is over, thanks to the completion of the first portion of a major remodel at Fannin – one of the initial renovation projects of Amarillo ISD’s School Bond 2017.  
Cindy Melton's Bob Ashworth Award
A campus administrative professional at Mesa Verde with 36 years of service to Amarillo ISD is the recipient of the District’s highest employee honor. Cindy Melton was presented the 2019 Bob Ashworth Award for Outstanding Service at the District’s annual Service Recognition Banquet on May 6. 
Amarillo I.S.D. high school juniors who took the S.A.T. test this year outscored their peers across the state and nation, and the district showed growth in the total and subject-specific scores from the previous year.  
Non-essential special education records of students, who were dismissed, withdrawn, or graduated during the 2011 – 12 school year, will be destroyed after May 31, 2019. Persons wishing to claim any available special education records should notify, in person, the AISD student records office, located at 7200 I-40 West, by Friday, May 31, 2019.
