High School

  • Text on a chalkboard background reads "HIGH SCHOOL AT HOME" with a decorative arrow and the AISD logo on the right.

Senior Class of 2020:

We know the last months of high school are supposed to be filled with special events and memory-making moments with your friends and family. As you know, right now everything school-related is on hold until May the 4th by order of the Governor. We will await guidance from state, local and school officials about what the month of May holds. We understand your desire for more information when it comes to proms, graduation festivities, and much more. Please be patient as we wait together for answers in the coming weeks. We will communicate with you as soon as we have a better understanding of what that will look like.

  • A survey was conducted by AISD to ascertain household availability to broadband (internet). During the initial phase of at-home learning, instruction will focus on Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading Language Arts. Elective course instruction will begin shortly after. High school instruction will be delivered in two ways during this time of at-home learning:

    • Online
    • Paper packets

Online is the preferred method for instruction utilizing the board approved 1:1 initiative. Using online will allow students to have direct interaction with the teacher.

  • High school students were issued a Chromebook. During this time of at-home learning, high school students will receive their classroom lessons and independent practice via online instruction utilizing Google Classroom. If you do not have broadband access, each school has increased the WiFi strength which will allow you to access and submit lessons in the school parking lot using AISD’s network. Students, please contact your teachers via email or Google Classroom to check in as soon as possible. By checking in, you will be prepared to start your at-home instruction on Friday, March 27th.

  • High school students who do not have broadband access can go to the high school they attend and pick up printed packets. Packets were available for pick-up on Friday, March 27.

    *Friday, May 15:

    Middle School and High School Instructional Return from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

    *Friday, May 22:

*Pick up and delivery of “other items” as needed and with social distancing and sequencing/scheduling organized by each campus WHEN local shelter-in-place is lifted by city and county governments.

If your student is completing assignments and schoolwork online through technology at home, you do not need to pick up paper instructional packets or drop off completed work.

    • Prior to arriving at school to drop off assignments, make sure returned packets are complete:
      • Middle and High School Students:
        • Make sure the student’s name is on the front of the packet or file folder
        • Make sure the student’s name and teacher’s name is on each page of the assignment
        • If students were given a choice of assignments, only return the assignment chosen and completed
        • From the list of electives choices, only return the assignments that match your student’s electives schedule
    • Stay in your car unless instructed otherwise.
    • Carefully follow instructions posted on campus signs or given by campus staff for picking up and dropping off assignments.
    • For those families participating in Snack Pak, PLEASE NOTE: Snack Paks on May 15 and May 22 will be available at the 16 lunch sites.
