**What is the Ace Scholarship?
Achievement through Commitment to Education (ACE)

Guarantees access to higher education for students of Palo Duro High School.

ACE…
Provides numerous college bound activities throughout high school and college for participating students, which include:

  1. Significant information early and often regarding the Path to a College Education;
  2. Early intervention during high school regarding attendance and grades;
  3. Significant information and direct assistance during high school regardless all aspects of higher education, including field trips to college campuses, college testing preparation, financial aid workshops, one-to one assistance with college paperwork, special college orientation and registration, and ongoing support and encouragement.

**What are the Requirements?

Students are required to:

  • Sign as a freshman along with their parents/guardians and re-sign annually while in high school. Their yearly signatures indicate a commitment to put forth the effort to meet the scholarship requirements.
  • Remain continuously enrolled at Palo Duro High School until graduation.
  • Graduate from Palo Duro High School within four years.
  • Graduate from Palo Duro High School with a minimum of the following:
    80 grade point average
    95% attendance rate (All absences count, including excused.)
  • Maintain appropriate behavior while in high school.
  • Apply for and complete admission, financial aid and scholarship requirements at Amarillo College and/or WTAMU.

**Citizenship:
Citizenship of the United States of America must be obtained no later than two years from the date of either high school graduation or the student’s 18th birthday, whichever occurs last. Certification of citizenship must be provided to the Committee; no scholarship can be awarded until United States citizenship is obtained. Students will become permanently ineligible unless the two-year requirement is met. Once eligibility is met, contact the ACE office as soon as possible to request ACE eligibility.

**What does the scholarship include?
The ACE Scholarship program pays the balance of ACE eligible fees after the student’s federal aid and other scholarships are applied. Eligible ACE charges are tuition, books, and fees. ACE continues to pay this balance as long as the student meets the ACE college requirements. Scholarship payments are paid directly to Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University to benefit the student.

ACE high school students are offered the following
ACE activities:
  • On going support during high school to encourage attendance and grades.
  • Field trips to colleges.
  • TASP testing workshops and testing fees paid for students who attend the TASP workshop.
  • Financial Aid workshops to assist in applying for federal student aid.
  • Assistance in completion of college enrollment applications.
  • Special "ACE only" registration at Amarillo College.
  • Special student services at Amarillo College and WTAMU.
  • On going support for all ACE college students from the Palo Duro office.
  • Newsletters to all ACE graduates to update and inform of important dates and requirements

**Here's how to sign-up:
Prior to entering Palo Duro High School as a freshman, call the ACE office at 381-7330. Students wishing to transfer to Palo Duro High School to participate in the ACE Scholarship Program may also contact the ACE office for further information. To ensure approval of the transfer, paperwork must be submitted to Palo Duro by May 1st prior to the school year.
