February 5, 2026 – February 1st marked the 23rd anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. Amarillo native and Amarillo High graduate Col. Rick Husband was the shuttle commander. AHS students Madeline Gehring and Alyssa Rains are working to further honor Rick’s memory with new memorabilia recently donated to the school by Rick's brother. We caught up with the students to learn more about their special mission. Watch the video.
