To file an AISD Police Civilian Complaint, view the Amarillo ISD Police Civilian Complaint Form dropdown in the next section of this web page.

Resources for Parents, Students and Staff

The Amarillo ISD Police and Safety Team is committed to the safety and security of students, staff and visitors at all of our campuses. That commitment means continually learning, assessing and working with our community to make schools better, safer and stronger. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Learn more about the progress made over the summer of 2022 on new campus safety and security initiatives (PDF opens in new window).

AISD has developed a Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan for each campus in the event of an emergency. Our staff has been trained on how to respond in emergency situations including: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Shelter, and Evacuation.

Our schools utilize ParentSquare to notify parents about any crisis situation for that specific campus. If there is a need for student/parent reunification during an incident, instructions will be sent by ParentSquare. Parents should make sure their child’s school has a current phone number and email to ensure they receive important notifications.

  • AISD Schools Utilize Texas Standard Response Protocol

In the event of an emergency at your student’s school, AISD utilizes the Texas Standard Response Protocol for situations including:

    • Hold: Students are secured inside the school when there is an outside event within close proximity to the school
    • Secure: All perimeter doors are locked; nobody in or out
    • Lockdown: All perimeter doors are locked, and students are secured into rooms
    • Shelter: Students are secured inside the building in the event of a weather-related event
    • Evacuation: Students are evacuated away from the school to a safe location

During an emergency event, parents will be notified via the District’s notification system (ParentSquare). Please make sure your student/family contact information is updated in Skyward as the ParentSquare notification system utilizes the phone numbers stored in Skyward. Please note that you must contact the school office in order to update your contact information stored in Skyward.

If you have any concerns or questions, or in the event that you would like to notify school officials of a safety concern, please contact your school’s administration. The AISD Police and Safety Department can also be contacted at 806-326-SAFE (7233) or via email.

  • Student Safety Tips

We know that safety is important to you. Our District and all school staff members strive every day to secure our school campuses. We want you to know that you as a student can also help make a difference! This is what we want you to know and do:

    • All students: It’s OK to tell your teacher or another worker at your school about something you think might be unsafe.

    • Another way to let someone know is to contact Student Crime Stoppers at 806-372-TIPS (8477) or use the P3 Tips Student Crime Stoppers app found on both Android and iOS app stores.

    • See something? Say Something. Help be a part of keeping our schools safe by taking to a teacher or school staff member any concerns that you might see, hear, or learn about from other students.
