September 11, 2026 – Tascosa JROTC cadet Aidan Bradley stood guard behind a wreath placed on the lawn of Tascosa High School, in a special ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Aidan and his fellow cadets rotate time standing posted at the memorial throughout the school day. “It’s important to pay our respects and remember the men and women who died that day,” Aidan said.

The day began with an enormous American flag waving over the campus, hoisted by cranes. ROTC cadets and Major Diego Barela led a wreath-laying ceremony as a cadet trumpeter played taps. Superintendent Dr. Deidre Parish, Amarillo ISD Chief of Secondary Education David Bishop, and Tascosa High School Principal Blake Barton joined Maj. Barela for the special ceremony.
