October 15, 2026 – Amarillo ISD was named a CTE District of Distinction for the second year by the Career and Technical Association of Texas. The CTE District of Distinction designation is awarded to school districts that are leading the way in Career and Technical Education by creating meaningful opportunities for students, strengthening connections with business and industry, and preparing the next generation of Texas talent, according to the CTAT.

AISD’s robust CTE program is the area’s most comprehensive offering exclusive opportunities for students district wide and at AmTech Career Academy, featuring a 3,500-square-foot robot and drone coliseum for classwork and competitions, an advanced mechatronics “Smart Factory” mimicking the use of robotics in factories, a complete audio and visual production studio and an Anatomage Theater with the most advanced anatomy visualization system typically only seen in higher ed. AmTech students have access to cutting-edge tools, equipment and teaching methods and they learn and work alongside peers from high schools across the district.
