Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS)

At Amarillo ISD, a strong community partnership is essential for the success of our students. Volunteering in our schools is a rewarding way to contribute to our children's educational experience. Whether you are a parent, local business owner, or community member, your time and talents are invaluable.

Why Volunteer?

  • Impact Student Success: Your involvement can boost students' confidence, enhance their academic performance, and foster a love for learning.

  • Strengthen Community: Volunteering builds a stronger community by connecting people from different backgrounds with a common goal: supporting education.

  • Personal Growth: Gain new skills, make new friends, and experience the joy of making a difference in a child's life.

Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities to fit every schedule, talent, and expertise:

  • Classroom Assistance: Help teachers with daily activities, reading sessions, and classroom projects.

  • Mentorship Programs: These programs provide one-on-one support and guidance to students, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Assist with sports, music, art, and other after-school programs.

  • Outside Speakers: Invited by the District, campus administration, teacher or other staff member to present to students on an education-related topic. Outside Speaker’s Agreement must be completed and signed.

  • Special Events: Support school events such as science fairs, book fairs, and cultural celebrations.

  • Administrative Support: Help with office tasks, organizing materials, and other essential duties.
