AISD supports all new teaching staff through amazing professional development and a wealth of resources. The District and campuses are there to help you keep your head above water during your first year with us. In addition to an intensive New Hire Orientation program, all teachers are paired with at least one Mentor teacher. These mentors are trained to work directly with new teachers to address all areas of new hire concern: curriculum, classroom management, parent/teacher relationships, and just navigating the day-to-day life of a teacher at that campus.
Most teachers in AISD are involved in a Professional Learning Community (PLC). The collaboration amongst teachers during PLC meetings is a tremendous value to all teachers, but more specifically new teachers. PLC's meet often; on many campuses they meet every day.
