Early Voting for Amarillo ISD Bond Referendum Underway

April 27, 2022 – Amarillo ISD voters will have the opportunity to vote on the school bond referendum beginning Monday, April 25, 2022, through Tuesday, May 3. The package will be separated into four separate propositions, addressing restoration & replacement, safety & security, and fine arts & athletics.

Early voting in both Potter County and Randall County will take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on April 25-29 & May 2-3, with extended hours from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm available at select locations on May 2-3.

Potter County Locations

  • Santa Fe Building | First Floor, Ticket Office (900 S. Polk St.)  *Extended hours May 2-3

  • Casey Carpet One | Main Entrance (3500 I-40 West Frontage)

  • Tri-State Fairgrounds | Arched Gate #1 (3301 SE 10th)

  • Cornerstone Outreach | Main Entrance, Fellowship Rm (1111 N. Buchanan)

  • Northwest Branch Amarillo Public Library | Meeting Room (6100 SW 9th)

Randall County Locations

  • Randall County Election Administrations Office (1504 5th Ave. Canyon, TX)        *Extended hours May 2-3

  • Randall County Annex (4320 S. Western) *Extended hours May 2-3

  • Southwest Branch Library (6801 W. 45th Ave.)

  • Comanche Trail Church of Christ (2700 E. 34th)

  • Randall County Justice Center (2309 Russell Long Blvd. Canyon, TX)

Plans for the bond package were recommended by AISD’s Community Facilities Advisory Committee after extensive study and deliberation, and ultimately brought forward to voters by the Board of Trustees. The four propositions that will be on the ballot for Amarillo ISD voters are:
 

Proposition A: $180.6 Million

Restoration & Replacement

  • New Austin Middle School to replace the current 71-year-old campus 

  • Window and roof replacements at various schools
     

Safety & Security

  • Elementary school perimeter fencing 

  • Middle school secured entrances

  • Elementary & middle school gym air conditioning

  • Technology network cabling updates to increase network speed, supporting modern learning environments and security systems
     

Fine Arts & Athletics

  • Exterior lighting allowance on some athletic fields to maximize use

  • Middle & high school fine arts additions & renovations to provide adequate space for program size
     

Proposition B: $19 Million

Dick Bivins Stadium Renovations

  • Reconstruct the spectator stands

  • Expand the track to 8 lanes to allow for UIL track meet hosting opportunities
     

Proposition C: $38.3 Million

Natatorium

  • Build a 50-meter practice & competition indoor swimming pool

  • Provide a district-owned facility for student swim teams
     

Proposition D: $48 Million

Multi-Purpose Indoor Activity Facility at each of the four traditional high schools

  • Would serve fine arts, athletics programs, PE and more

  • Provide indoor practice areas in inclement weather
