The Juice is Worth the Squeeze: Coronado Students Win Awards

May 21, 2025 – Coronado Elementary students in Brandy Dodson’s 2nd-grade math class are learning more than how to make lemonade out of lemons. They’re learning the ins and outs of what it takes to develop and build a lemonade stand “business,” creatively brand it, and then actually sell the sweet, puckery juice to customers.

Over the course of about a month each year, Dodson’s math class receives workbooks and lessons centering on what entrepreneurs do when starting and operating a business. It all culminates with some students–this year, there were 11 Coronado students–choosing to enter a Lemonade Day lemonade stand project, where judges give awards for the following categories:

🍋 Best Tasting Award: Gideon and Simeon Townsend

🍋 Most Creative Stand Award: Maverick Glover

🍋 Best Overall Stand: Malachi DeBose

Congratulations to these Coronado Elementary Conquistadors for their hard work and creativity.
