Additional Information

AISD Middle School Student At-Home Learning

To lessen the potential stress to students and parents during the initial phase of at-home learning, middle school students will reinforce previously learned, specific Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Emphasis will be on the core subjects of reading language arts, math, science and social studies. Electives will be added into the curriculum for at-home learning, with an emphasis on high school credit-bearing courses, such as Spanish and professional communications. If school closure extends, middle school students will build upon previously learned, specific TEKS.

The majority of AISD middle school students are familiar with Google Classroom and the use of technology at school. However, we realize that not all AISD students have broadband access and a device such as a computer or laptop. AISD conducted a survey to determine the best delivery method of instruction to middle school students: online or paper packets. Parents were able to choose the best method of access, and schools prepared materials based on the survey results.

Along with daily activities, students will be provided a weekly choice board. Choice boards will include options linked to identified focus standards. Students are welcome to extend learning by selecting additional choices or resources.

*Amarillo ISD has included our state-adopted and/or purchased resources in lessons. The use of these resources is limited to Amarillo ISD students.

AISD WiFi Coverage & Help Desk Information

WiFi Coverage
AISD has turned up campus-based wireless access points in an attempt to strengthen the WiFi coverage in school parking lots. By turning up our wireless access, staff and students of Amarillo ISD who need Internet access can park in a school parking lot and obtain connectivity while still observing social distancing guidelines.
