High School Staff Work Plans

High School Staff Work Plans

High School Faculty and Staff,

Governor Abbott has closed schools effective March 20th at midnight through April 3rd. Home-based learning is still a requirement. Our goal is to ensure our students have access to learning and to limit the exposure and spread of COVID-19. We have revised the plan that was shared yesterday to limit contact to ensure everyone’s safety.

The current plan is as follows.

Curriculum:

  • NO ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS MAY BE PUSHED TO STUDENTS VIA GOOGLE CLASSROOM BEFORE FRIDAY MARCH 27th. (Per Special Education Guidelines, all students must gain access to the curriculum at the same time.)
  • Online learning will begin with the four core classes (ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies). High Schools will have the option of adding elective offerings as they are prepared if school closure is extended. Materials will reinforce prior learning and priority TEKS.
  • Students will utilize school-issued Chromebooks to access online content if they have access to broadband.
  • Students without Technology/Hard Copy Curriculum:
    • Packets will be available for pick-up by parents at home campus sites on Friday, March 27th.
    • Availability times will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Materials will be printed by campus designees at the campus. Campus principals, assistant principals, other campus volunteers and/or essential, identified staff at the campuses to assist with passing out the packets with a drive through process.
  • Packets will be organized by grade and content area.

Survey:

  • A survey will go out to all parents that asks three questions:
    • Do you need hard copy/pencil paper access for at home learning?
    • Do you need access to Snack Pak pick up?
    • Will you be picking up daily breakfast and lunches (Lunch will start Monday and breakfast on Tuesday)?
  • This will assist us in preparing the correct number of copies, meals and Snack Paks.

Snack Paks:

  • Snack Paks will be available for pick-up by parents at home campus sites for currently participating students on Friday, March 27th. We anticipate there being a limited supply of additional packs available for those students who are not currently participating and in need.
  • Availability times will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Snack Paks will be delivered to campus pick-up sites by Friday morning by 6:00 a.m., March 27th.

Teachers/Staff:

  • Teachers who need access to technology may pick up a Chromebook from their designated campus as assigned by the campus principal. Teachers may also pick up teaching materials from their classroom on Friday March 20th from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. If you come to campus to pick up teaching materials, please report directly to your classroom, gather what you need, and leave the building as soon as possible. Please be reminded that social distancing is in place.
  • Teachers, counselors, and any other staff who provide specialized services need to check their emails regularly during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Students needing assistance will correspond through email or campus communication methods to request support. Depending on the volume of needed assistance that a teacher might receive, teachers will have 24 hours to respond.
  • Counselors, SpEd teachers, Speech pathologists, and other staff who provide FAPE related services will communicate with students and parents on a systematic basis to ensure continuity of services.
  • All other staff (Librarian, Learning Leaders, assistants, etc.) may be asked to support campus needs, such as parent-student contact, professional development, and routine campus work, from home and on a voluntary basis on campus.
  • Teacher expectations from home will be to communicate with students weekly to offer support related to home learning. Additional staff members will also assist in contacting students. This contact can happen through methods such as a phone call, Google Meet, Google Classroom, AISD Google email, or Remind.
  • Teachers may be needed to work in small groups, preferably on a volunteer basis, to support essential at home learning or other essential district operations.
  • In the coming days, staff members not specifically assigned above will receive at-home duty assignments from their supervisor. Supervisors will be in contact with these staff members via phone or email.

Please know how much we appreciate everyone’s support, commitment, grace, and mercy as we navigate these uncharted waters. We 100% have staff and students' best interest at heart. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
